On July 10th, just one day shy of her 96th birthday, Sarah Ann Hancock Moore, of Charlotte Court House, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus.

She was reunited with her parents, Lorraine Waddell and Charlie Pierman Hancock; her husband, Jerry Moore; a daughter, Mary Ann High; a son, David Moore; a grandson, Jeremiah Hamlett; and a brother, William Reed Hancock.

Sarah was a member of Phenix United Methodist Church. She was tender and kind and helped her family with all that she could. She was the summer babysitter and the after-school bus stop. She never worked a public job, but spent her days caring for her family, gardening and canning, working in the tobacco fields, creating beautiful quilts, clothes, and embroidery times.

She is survived by a brother, Charlie P. Hancock, Jr. of Drakes Branch; three grandchildren, Joshua Hamlett of Florida, Jonathan Moore of Concord, and Dana M. Clark and husband, Jason of Old Well; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Moore and wife, Kendree, Brianna Moore, Mikayla Clark, and Zachary Clark, a daughter-in-law, Dianna L. Moore; and a son-in-law, Derreke High.

A graveside funeral service officiated by Pastor Mike Teixeira will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Mr. Carmel United Methodist Church, Brookneal. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
