Obituary

Sandra Sue "Sandy" Wilson, age 78, of Lynchburg passed away at 11:25 a.m. Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital with her daughter by her side.

Sandy was born on May 11, 1941, in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of the late Gurney L. and L. Lucile Archibald Brown. Her family lived in a number of Midwestern states throughout her youth, finally settling in the Champaign, IL area in the mid-1950s. Sandy graduated from Champaign High School in 1958, and worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company for several years before getting married. She lived on a farm and was a homemaker for nearly thirty years in the Fithian, IL area before relocating to Virginia in 2001. While in Virginia, Sandy lived in the Blacksburg and Fairfield areas before moving to Lynchburg in 2015.

Sandy was a genealogy enthusiast, and was a 30-year member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, most recently the Lynchburg Chapter. She was a collector of country antiques, a lover of old houses, a gardener and a bird/butterfly watcher. Sandy is survived by her only daughter, Julie Wilson; her son-in-law, Roy Wilson; and her beloved grandchildren Thomas and Chloe Wilson, all of Appomattox.

The family wishes to show much gratitude to the caregivers of Heartland and Heritage Green Daybreak, Lynchburg.
