Samuel Nathaniel Stanley, 92, of Appomattox, died Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation. He was the husband of the late Ruby Williamson Stanley.
Born in Buckingham County, May 31, 1926, he was a son of the late Carrie Reynolds and Henry Madison Stanley, Sr. Samuel was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, American Legion Post #104, and retired from VDOT. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII, Asiatic Pacific service medal (1) bronze service star, Philippian Liberation service medal with (1) bronze service star, good conduct medal, WWII victory medal, and an Army occupation medal.
He is survived by five children, Jeffery Stanley and wife, Julie of Chesapeake, Michael Stanley of North Carolina, Linda Shupe and husband, Bobby of Appomattox, Billy Batien and wife, Mindy of Stafford, and Yvonne White of Beaufort, NC; two sisters, Mary Lou Ranson and Virginia Martin both of Lynchburg; one sister-in-law, Laura Stanley of Appomattox; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday February 27, 2019 at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Rusty Small officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service at Robinson Funeral Home.
