Appomattox: Sallie Smith Jones, 81, of Rt. 1, entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 12, 2005 in the Appomattox Health Care Center surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late John Booker Jones.
Born in Buckingham Co., January 31, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Shelton and Rosa Catherine Merkle Smith. Mrs. Jones was a member of Central Baptist Church where she was active in the W.M.U. and she was a retired seamstress with
the Amelia Dress Company.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Jones McKissick and her husband, James, of Lafayette, IN; two sons, Richard Lawrence Jones and his wife, Kathy and William Donald Jones and his wife, Gail, and one son-in-law, James H. Ford, Jr., all of Concord; eleven grandchildren, Dana Wingfield, Michelle Cheatham, Jason Ford, Ed Roberts, Teresa Meade, Shannon McKissick, Kristy Whitener, Lisa Lowes, Stephen Jones, Kimberly Parsons, and Sharla Kvasnicka; 13 great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Agee of Buckingham and three brothers, Thomas Smith of Appomattox, William Smith of Tappahanock and Robert Smith of Glen Allen.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Frances Ford and a sister, Daisy Scruggs.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at Central Baptist Church by the Rev. Jeff Worley and the Rev. Jason Whitener. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and other times at the home of Donnie and Gail Jones, 8678 Spring Mill Road, Concord.
