Obituary

Ruth (Betty) Smith Scruggs, 91, of Appomattox, died Sunday, January 16, 2011, in the Masonic Home in Richmond. She was the wife of the late Charles Wiley Scruggs.

She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 8, 1919; she was the daughter of the late Virey and Annie Gentle Smith. Ruth whose stage name was Betty Logan along with her sister Reva, were known as the Logan Girls and played with Roy Rogers and The Sons of the Pioneers. They were also featured in commercials as the "Dr. Pepper Girls". Betty was a member of Liberty Chapel Baptist Church and a retired antique dealer.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 23, 2011, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Matt Davis. Burial will follow in Liberty Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
