Ruth Austin Roach, 74, of Red House Rd., Appomattox, died Sunday, January 5, 2014, at the home of her daughter. She was the wife of Thomas Carter Roach.
Born in Appomattox County, on December 1, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Lonelle Riley and David Garland Austin. She was a member of Spout Spring Baptist Church. Ruth loved gardening and flowers.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, Dorlisa R. Willis and George M. Wright of Forest; a son, Byron Thomas Roach and wife, Karen of Concord; a sister, Rachel A. Drinkard of Appomattox; five grandchildren, Lyndsay R. Irvin and husband Jason, Blake T. Roach and wife Taylor, Landon C. Roach, Zane T. C. Willis, and Chase L. Willis; great-grandchildren, Brenden, Haley, and Layla; a niece, Kim D. Neighbors and husband, Burnette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William B. Austin.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Ronnie Campbell and Pastor Bobby Roach. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of Bryon and Karen Roach, 14 Haven Court, Lynchburg.
