Ruth Naomi Maxey Franklin, 82, of Highway View Lane, Appomattox, died Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Guggenheimer Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Clarence Handy Franklin.
Born in Spout Spring, Va., on August 5, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Elizabeth Moore and Thomas Albert Maxey.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane C. Lemon and husband, Wallace A. of Rustburg; a son, Lawrence Lee Hall, Jr.; two grandchildren, Christopher Douglas Hall and wife, Valarie and Christina Leigh Urbano and husband, Norberto; three great-grandchildren, Marcus Antonio Lemon, Sean Daniel Hall, and Kiara Hall; three step-sons, Larry Franklin and wife, Debbie, Dennis Franklin, and Mark Franklin and wife, Janet Kay; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert D. "Hootie" Maxey of Lynchburg; a half-brother, Berkley Cabaniss of Appomattox; and a half-sister, Bessie L. Forgie of Iron Gate.
She was preceded in death by a step-son, Edward Franklin.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2017, at Robinson Funeral Home by Pastor Paul Kvasnicka. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Centra Hospice of Lynchburg, 2097 Langhorne Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
