Obituary

Russell Leeman Cordell, Sr., 90, of 665 Berry Lane, Appomattox, died Sunday, March 7, 2010, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Louise Smith Cordell.
Born in Marlington, West Virginia, January 30, 1920, he was a son of the late Anna Mae Gum and Samuel Cordell. Russell was a farmer, a member of Central Baptist Church, and retired from Fred Jones Well Drilling after twenty years of service. He was a WWII Naval Veteran having served on the USS Enterprise.
He is survived by his son R.L. Cordell, II of Appomattox; three daughters and sons-in-law, Reita and Roy Templeton, of Lynchburg, Martha and Garet Bosiger, and Iris and Nate Guthrie, all of Appomattox; six grandchildren, Monica Adams and Ben, Robert Phillips, Davey Templeton and Tracey, Dana and Gideon Hale, Sheri Templeton and Russell Templeton; six great-grandchildren; and Nubbin.
Russell was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Wright; granddaughter, Joni Templeton, six sisters and two brothers.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Robinson Funeral Home, by the Rev. Clinton Brooks with burial to follow in Central Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rites Accorded by American Legion Post #104 and VFW #9855 combined honor guard.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2010, from 7-8:30pm at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his Daughter and Son-in-law, Martha and Garet Bosiger, 3314 County Line Rd Appomattox.
