Ruby Williamson Stanley, 89, of Appomattox passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Samuel Nathaniel Stanley whose love, care and devotion to their mother and grandmother is an inspiration to the whole family.
Born in Appomattox County, August 10, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Harry Williamson and Goldie Wooten Williamson. Ruby was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 104 Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one son; Willard Wayne "Billy" Batien and wife Mindy of Stafford; 3 daughters, Peggy W. Clark of Ashland, OH, Linda B. Shupe and husband, Bobby of Appomattox, Yvonne R. Batien Spraker of Smith Mountain Lake; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; stepchildren Jeffrey O'Neil Stanley and wife, Julie of Chesapeake and Michael William Stanley of Grandy, NC.
She was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Robinson Funeral by the Rev. Jeff Worley and the Rev. Rusty Small. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9:00p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Linda and Bobby Shupe.
