Ruby Inez Comstock, 74, of Spout Spring passed away on Friday August 28, 2026, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Robert Comstock.

Born on August 30, 1951, in Tyrrell County, NC she was the daughter of the late Russell Swain and Margaret Inez Simmons Swain. Ruby had the biggest heart and the best “grandma” voice. She ran her own cleaning business; she would go in to cook and clean for elderly. She was always helping people, even when she didn't have much to give, she gave her time and love. Ruby enjoyed farming, gardening, yard sales and sewing. She loved feeding people, if you were around her you wouldn’t leave hungry. Her biggest joy was family; she always had the biggest smile when she was with her kids and grandkids. She was the best storyteller and could always make you laugh.

She is survived by three children, Tonya Yancey and husband, Regal of Spout Spring, Jack Cohoon and wife, Melissa of Edenton, NC, and Ray Cohoon and wife, Cathy of Norfolk; eight grandchildren, Joline Bowman and husband, Trey, Raeann Cohoon, Brittanie Gaulden and husband, William, Eleonor Soriano and husband, Sergio, Dianna Yancey, Kayla Morris and husband, Rashawn, Regal Yancey, Jr., and Alex Cohoon and wife, Rachel; eight great grandchildren, Sawyer and Sutton Bowman, Harper Herbert, Abigail and Noah Gaulden, Celine Harris, Myah Morris, and anticipating the soon arrival of Peyton Lily Morris; three siblings, Kathy Lane, Hal Swain both of Edenton, NC, and Dennis Swain and wife, Susie of Windsor, NC.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Ricky Lee; and two siblings, Phyllis Lee and Russell Swain, Jr.
