RUBY ELIZABETH COLEMAN
Ruby E. Coleman, 83, went to her Heavenly Home on June 26th, 2006 at Chesapeake Health Care Center, Chesapeake,VA.
She was born August 16, 1922 in Lynchburg, VA. Her parents now deceased, were Mary Hackett Brightwell and Leonard James Brightwell. She was a member of Brentwood Baptist Church, Norfolk, VA and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #34, Ocean View.
After raising her children, Ruby decided to go to work. She was employed at K&K Toys, Wards Corner before becoming manager of the store at Fairfield Shopping Center, Virginia Beach. Ruby enjoyed her work with the toys, the children and the many friends she made with her kind and loving disposition.
She was preceded in death by her son, John Owen Coleman; three grandchildren, Butch & David Bryant and Brenda Bryant Doss and her husband of 53 years, Russell Vaughan Coleman, and sister Marion Ore.
She was the mother of four daughters and four sons; Mary Frances Bryant of Appomattox; Mildred Ann Hammock of Hayes; Cathleen Marie Stewart of LaCrosse; Betty Elizabeth Hudgins and her husband, Michael of Chesapeake; Russell Vaughan Coleman, Jr. and his wife, Alice of Madison Heights; William Arthur Coleman and his wife, Virginia of Gloucester Point; Leonard Addison Coleman and his wife, Priscilla of Bowling Green, Ohio; Robert Edward Coleman and his wife, Patricia of Hayes;two sisters, Freddie Viar, and Mary Christian, and her husband Marvin, all of Madison Heights 33 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 29 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Daniel Dockery. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8:30 P.M. today (Wednesday) and at other times at the home of Mary Frances Bryant, 10441 Red House Rd.
