Roy Eugene Woody, 81, of Appomattox, died Sunday, September 29, 2024. He was the husband of Iris Garrett Woody for 62 years.

Born in Lynchburg, VA, on December 20, 1942, he was a son of the late James Edward Woody, Sr. and the late Glendola Catron Carter. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James E. "Jim" Woody, Jr, W. L. "Bill" Woody and three sisters, Hazel Thomas, Hilda Massey, and Mary Carroll

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Troy Woody; two grandchildren, T. W. Woody and Garrett Woody and fiancée, Alena Hamlett; one great-granddaughter, Savannah Woody; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy was an active member and Deacon of Red Oak Baptist Church and retired from Flowserve after 45 years of service. He loved antique Mopar cars.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in Red Oak Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Bud Reid. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
