Roxie Shelton Thomas, 85, of Pamplin, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Daniel Thomas.
Born in Greene County, Tenn. on February 10, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Margaret Shelton. Roxie was a member of Elon Baptist Church and worked in several garment factories as a seamstress.
She is survived by three daughters, Margie C. Covington (Walker) of Pamplin, Shirley T. Huskey (Melvin) of Farmville, and Jean T. Revenew of Raleigh, NC; two sons, Melvin B. Thomas (Brenda) of Appomattox and Robert W. Thomas (Jane) of Pamplin; a sister, Arizona Ramsey of Pamplin; two brothers, Paul Shelton of New Castle, Ind. and Andrew Shelton of Greensboro, NC; nine grandchildren; six great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held 4:30 pm, Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Elon Baptist Church by the Rev. Josh Tompkins. Burial will follow in Rocks Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of Margie and Walker Covington.
