IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald Joseph
Torrence
February 8, 1949 – February 13, 2024
Ronald Joseph Torrence, 75, of Concord, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024. He was the loving husband of Mary Martin Torrence.
Born in Lynchburg, February 8, 1949, he was a son of the late Julia Fielder Torrence and Robert Elwood "Nice" Torrence, Sr. Ronald was a member of Grace Church. He retired from Thomasville Furniture as a maintenance supervisor. Ronald served his country in the United States Army. He lived out his relationship with the Lord through his church as a great example of a servant leader. Ronald enjoyed time with his loved ones hiking, backpacking, river rafting and building things on the farm. He received an associate's degree from Trinidad State Jr. College, and acquired his Pilot's license from Burnside Flying school and then went on to take three semesters of linguistics at Wycliffe Bible Translators. Ronald made a miraculous recovery from an industrial accident at Thomasville and always trusted and believed in God's providence and protection through that 19-year trial. He endured much with great dignity and good humor.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Matthew Torrence and wife, Charity, Jonathan Torrence and wife, Holly, and Nathan Torrence and wife, Sarah, all of Concord; two brothers, Woody Torrence and wife, Nancy, and Victor Torrence and wife, Wanda; one sister, Lois Phillips and husband, Sam; and 11 grandchildren, Adam, Tyler, Summer, Ahna, Lilly, Elam, Carter, Hope, Ella, Lincoln and Piper.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Torrence; and a son, Timothy Torrence.
