Ronald W. Gowin

Ronald Wayne Gowin, 63, of Patteson School Road, Appomattox, went to be with his Lord on Thursday April 9, 2015 at Lynchburg General Hospital. For over twenty years, he was the beloved husband of Jane Dooley Gowin.

Born in Lynchburg Virginia on September 9, 1951, he was the son of Barbara Layne and James A. Gowin of Appomattox. He was an employee of Babcock and Wilcox for over forty years and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He loved his garden, taking care of his lawn, working as a farmer with beef cattle and was a great handyman. Ronnie was a big fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a step son Stephen H. Godsey and wife, Amanda of Lynchburg; two step-daughters, Susan O. Hager and husband, Jason of Prince George and Alison N. Creasy and her husband, Brian of Rustburg. He was "Papa Ronnie" to grandchildren, Ashton, Adam, Amelia, Jackson and Evan. Ronnie was also survived by a sister, Cathy G. Blanks and husband, Aubrey of Appomattox; a niece, Jill L. Blackwell and two daughters, Stacy and Lori Gowin.

He was preceded in death by a nephew, Steven Brent Blackwell.

A memorial service will be held at New Hope Baptist Church on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 11 am with Rev. Ronald D. Moore officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.
