Obituary

Appomattox: Roger Francis Paquin of Appomattox, Va. Born January 2, 1935 in Salem, MA. Son of the late Roland E. Paquin and Lourette Richards Paquin. Roger is survived by his wife of 32 years Jeri Paquin, a son Russell, his wife Heidi and three grandchildren Ben, Brian, and Stephanie; two stepsons, James Walker and William Walker and his wife Lisa; one step grand daughter Sonya Walker Inquil; three sisters, Jeannine Ouellette of Danvers, MA; Annette L'Italien and her husband George of Peabody, MA; Rita Dobzelecki of Tucson AZ; and eleven nieces and nephews.
Roger served in the USAF during the Korean conflict from 1957 to 1961, refueling planes while in flight. After his honorable discharge, he was employed by The San Diego California Sign Company and was instrumental in the design, fabrication, and installation of many signs including the first Jack-in-Box and Taco Bell signs, and also some of the largest signs erected in the United States. He worked with this company until he and his wife Jeri relocated to Austin, TX to join the medical team at Carbomedics, performing numerous processes in the manufacturing of mechanical heart valves. He worked there until 1992 when he and his wife, Jeri, relocated to Appomattox, VA.
Roger quickly adapted to the country life. He enjoyed wood working, golfing, motorcycling, target practice, and meticulously maintaining their home and property. Most of all he enjoyed the essence of the quiet and beauty of the country. He took good care of the wild birds, feeding and building housing for them. His middle name was Francis, an especially fitting name because Saint Francis was "Keeper of the Animals". He took great pride in all areas of his life. He was a quiet man and meticulous in his attire.
He was truly loved and will be missed by many.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church at 2938 Oakleigh Avenue, Appomattox, Virginia on Wednesday October 3 at 1:00 pm., officiated by the Rev. Jim Gallagher.
A celebration of Roger's life with family and friends will be held on Wednesday at the home following the service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, any donations be made in Roger's name to AWAG, P.O Box 37, Appomattox, Va., 24522; or Appomattox County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 57, Appomattox, Va., 24522
