Roger Morgan Francis

Roger Morgan Francis, 83, of Concord, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Appomattox Health and Rehab. He was the husband of Dorothy Marie Painter Ballagh Francis.

Born on December 14, 1941, in Newport News, VA he was the son of the late Morgan B. “Bud” Francis and Violet Edwards Francis Jones Wallace. He attended New Concord Presbyterian Church and served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Roger enjoyed photographing airplanes, looking at star constellations, and riding motorcycles. He loved to tell stories and jokes and never met a stranger.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two stepchildren, Katherine “Kathy” Bowles and William “Will” Ballagh and wife, Anne all of Concord; three grandchildren, Kara B. Baker and husband, Willie, James R. “Ran” Bowles and wife, Taylor, and Nicole “Niki” Ballagh; two great-grandchildren, Ella M. Baker and Sullivan R. Bowles; and two siblings, Ronald Eugene Francis of Boulder, CO and Pamela F. Harrison of Clinton, TN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Jay Francis; his first wife, Marilyn Rampon Francis; and stepson-in-law, Gene Randolph “Randy” Bowles.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2pm, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at New Concord Presbyterian Church with Rev. Carlos Malave officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Pearson Cancer Center, and Centra Home Health and all the nurses, CNAs, staff & therapists at both Liberty Ridge Rehab & Appomattox Health and Rehab for excellent care given to Roger.
