Pamplin: Robert Dell Thompson, 44, of 3493 Hixburg Rd., died Wednesday, December 20, 2006 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Lisa E. Thompson.
Born in Lynchburg, VA, November 23, 1962, the son of Buddy Ray Thompson, Sr. and Charlene Ranson Thompson of Little River, SC. He was a member of Rocks Baptist Church, owner of Robbie's Towing of Farmville, and a driver for UPS. Robbie was owner and driver of RDT Racing, running his racecar in NASCAR races at South Boston, Orange County and Franklin County Speedways.
In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by a step-daughter, Maggie Ellington of Pamplin; a brother, Buddy Ray Thompson, Jr. and his wife, Cindy; a sister, Cheryl T. Sibilia and her husband, John; two nephews, Buddy Ray Thompson, III and Cory Alexander Thompson all of Little River, SC; mother-in-law, Margaret Agee of Farmville, father-in-law, Landen J. Edwards, Sr., brother-in-law, Landen J. Edwards, Jr. both of White Pine, TN and a sister-in-law, Katherine Nichols of Farmville.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, December 23, 2006 in Rocks Baptist Church by the Rev. Chris Harbin with burial following in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today from 7-9:00 pm and at other times at the residence.
