Obituary

Robert Stephen (Steve) Brown, Sr., 90, of Deer Road, Pamplin, died of prostate cancer Thursday morning June 11, 2015 at his residence. He was the husband of Dolores Wilson Brown.

Steve was born in Durham, NC November 5, 1924 a son of the late Nellie Mae Pearce and Marion Guy Brown. He was a retired farmer and member of Madisonville Presbyterian Church. Steve served in the Army Air Corp in the Philippines and received the Bronze Star. After serving in World War II, he worked as a jeweler in Washington, DC for Woodward and Lothrop and then went to work for Burroughs Business Machines. He later moved to Carrollton, VA where he farmed, then moved to Pamplin, VA where he raised Simmental Cattle and following this farming venture, he started building custom furniture and cabinets.

In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by two children, Susan C. Larson and husband, Bruce of Pleasanton, CA and Steve Brown, Jr. and wife, Pat of Sorrento, FL; five grandchildren, Tiffany Jotten (Lars), Stephanie Larson and husband, Scott Moura, Brett Larson, Trevor Brown and wife, Donna, and Cory Brown; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Jimmy Brown and wife, Shirley of Little River, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 4pm Saturday June 13, 2015 at Madisonville Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Kim Jeffreys. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #104 and VFW#9855 combined honor guard.
