Robert Allen Smith, 64, of Rocky Farm Road, died, Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Duke University Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Johanna Coleman Smith for 39 years.

Born in Appomattox, February 25, 1952, he was a son of the late Mable Doss and James Elmo Smith, Sr. Robert was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and an equipment operator for VDOT. He was an avid outdoorsman, gardener, farmer, hunter, and fisherman.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Dana Kaye Smith Woody and husband David; one son, Jeremy Allen Smith and wife, Felicia; one brother, James Elmo Smith, Jr., and wife, Peggy all of Appomattox; four grandchildren, Lucas, Lainey, Lauryn and Liza; aunts and uncles, Gene Doss, Doug and Louise Doss, Joe and Ruth Doss, Peggy Watson, Dick Smith, Wiley and Lois Smith and Reva Cruise; father and mother-in-law, Warren and Ruth Ann Coleman.

He was preceded in death by a nephew, Drew Smith.

A Graveside Service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Smith Family Cemetery with the Rev. John Muth officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30p.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
