Obituary

Appomattox: Robert Irving (Scotty) Scott, 84, of 167 Virginia Ave., died Sunday, May 6, 2007, in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Helen McCormick Scott.
Born at the Wilderness in Spotsylvania County, on September 29, 1922, he was a son of the late Robert I Scott, Sr. and Iva Dempsey Scott. Scotty proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force serving during WW II in the CBI (China-Burma-India) Theater with the 61st Air Service Group. He was a Virginia State Police Dispatcher retiring on February 1, 1985 after 36 years of service. He was a member of the Appomattox American Legion Post #104, a charter member of the Appomattox Moose Lodge #975, a member of the 1947 Appomattox Redsox baseball team and a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Alan and Gloria W. Scott and Robert Mark and Renee W. Scott all of Appomattox; a sister, Frances W. Wholey of Lawrenceville; a brother, George L. Scott and his wife, Tink of Fredericksburg; five grandchildren, Iva Nikole, Joshua Dane, Robert Daniel, Justin Royal, and Christopher Mark Scott all of Appomattox; two sisters-in-law, Mattie Martin and Evelyn McCormick and her husband, Elwood all of Lynchburg; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Spence of Aiken SC and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Evelyn Scott and Anna Scott Spence and a brother, Joseph C. Scott.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox by the Dr. Robert Alderman and the Rev. Wes Williams with burial following in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
