Robert Booker Poole, 81, of Horseshoe Road, Appomattox, died Saturday January 26, 2013 in Lynchburg General Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Katherine Lewis Poole for forty-eight years.
Robert was born in Person Co, NC on June 15, 1931 a son of the late Mollie Wiley and Willie Poole. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, retired from the City of Lynchburg after sixteen years of service, was the former owner of Bob's Printing and a farmer.
In addition to his wife, Katherine, Robert is survived by a son, Bob Poole and his wife, Amy; a daughter, Cindy Hamlett and her husband, Mike, all of Appomattox; a sister, Alice Cundiff of Danville two brothers, Edward Poole and his wife, Nannie of Bassett; George Poole and his wife, Betty of Semora,NC; four grandchildren, Jacob, Daniel and Sarah Poole and M.J. Hamlett; and brothers-in-law, Luther Lewis and wife, Helen of Spout Spring; Ray Lewis and wife, Carolyn of Greensboro, NC; John Lewis and wife, Barbara of Concord; Bill Lewis and wife, Carla of Appomattox; sister-in-law, Nancy Lewis of Appomattox three sisters-in-law, Collie Mae, Anne and Beth Poole and numerous nieces and nephews, two special friends who gave exceptional care to Robert, Beth Anne Putnam and Becky Hamlett. He was fondly called "Pa Pa" by many.
He was preceded in death by siblings, John Poole, Margaret Clark, Radford Poole, Cecil Poole, James Poole, Hope Thacker and Charlie Poole.
Funeral services will be held at Liberty Baptist Church on Tuesday January 29, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. officiated by the Rev. Rusty Small. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to time of service beginning at noon and at other times at the residence.
