Robert Carlyle (Chief) Hepler, Sr., 84, of Little Falling Rd., Concord, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007 in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ada Florence Chaney Hepler.
Born in Corry, PA, January 23, 1923, he was a son of the late Harry B. and Marguerite Clark Hepler. Mr. Hepler retired with 22 years service from the US Navy. He then went to work as a machinist for Babcock & Wilcox before retiring in 1982. He attended Fairview Christian Church.
He is survived by two sons, Robert C. Hepler, Jr. of Concord and Roger E. Hepler of New Mexico; a daughter, Robin Karen Gillispie of Rustburg; a sister, Mary Chucalo and husband, Chuck of Belleville, Illinois; three granddaughters, Karen Willis of Ardmore, OK, Tracy Hone of Rustburg, and Dawn Barlow of Concord; a grandson, Brandon Hepler of Lynchburg and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son, Paul W. Hepler and a grandson, Tony Troy Hepler.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Sidney Wade. Burial will follow on July 3, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. in Arlington National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home.
