Richard J. "Ricky" Steadman, 48, of Country Club Road, Appomattox, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at his residence. He was the husband of Jenny Crews Steadman.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., on April 22, 1967, he was the son of J. C. Steadman of Spout Spring and the late Margaret Alice Orange Steadman. He was valedictorian of his graduating class at Lynchburg College with a BS in accounting. Ricky was employed by the City of Lynchburg as Chief Deputy for the Commissioner of the Revenue. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer and a Sunday school teacher.

In addition to his wife, Jenny and father, J. C., he is survived by a brother, Donald Steadman and wife, Susan of Gladys; two nieces, Amy and Taylor Steadman; a sister-in-law, Mildred Dunningan; and two brothers-in-law, Charles Crews and Joe Crews. He was preceded in death by a uncle, Charlie Crews and his father and mother-in-law, Tom and Eunice Crews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Mann. Burial will follow in Rebecca Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
