Richard R. Reed, 78, of Lakeside Drive, Lynchburg, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Saturday, February 25, 2017.

Born in Surgoinsville, TN, August 14, 1938, he was a son of the late Sarah Tate Reed and Warren W. Reed. He was a retired salesman with Kroger, John P. Hughes and Graceland of Lynchburg.

He is survived by five children, Richard A. Reed, Vicky F. Alvis, Bruce G. Reed all of Lynchburg, Becky Sue Shelton and husband, Ray of Rustburg and Wendy Dawn Robertson and husband Joe of Virginia Beach; one brother, John Daniel Reed of Lynchburg; six grandchildren, Sarah K. Foster, Tracy L. Brown, Steven D. Foster, Heather N. Feagan, Samantha K. Reed and Nicholas S. Reed; three great-grandchildren, Sarah Beth Brown, Laura Kate Brown and Hartleigh Marie Duncan; two brothers-in-law, John "Yank" Soos, and Jerry O. Galyean both of Lynchburg; one sister-in-law, Joan Tolley of Pamplin.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Patsy Jeftazak, Nancy Soos, and Linda Galyean; and two brothers, Benny Reed, and David Reed.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Rocks Baptist Church with Rev. Don Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Robinson Funeral Home.
