Richard Lee "Big Pa" Martin, 70, of Stonewall Road, Appomattox, died Wednesday, December 19, 2018.

Born in Lynchburg, May 12, 1948, he was a son of the late Hazel Lee Coleman and Otho Wesley Martin, Jr. Richard was a member of Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church. He retired as Director of Appomattox County Social Services, a member of Camp 1733 of the Appomattox Sons of Confederate Veterans and a VCU Alum. Richard enjoyed fishing at Nags Head and was an avid Boston Red Sox Fan.

He is survived by two children, Lauralee Mills and husband, Josh and John-Richard Martin and fiancé Jessica Hodbod all of Oakville; one brother, James Wesley Martin, Sr. of Murfreesboro, TN; his beloved grandchildren, Tyler Wesley Martin, Georgia Arley Mills and Lucy Brice Mills; two aunts, Lucille Coleman Lewis, Lillian M. Martin; one nephew, Matthew E. Martin.

He was preceded in death by a nephew, James Wesley Martin, Jr.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church with Rev. John Flood and Rev. Tom Walker officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2018 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at his residence and the residence of Lauralee and Josh Mills.
