Richard "Dick" Hunter Martin, 91, of Spout Spring, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Jean Elizabeth Jones Martin.

Born in Appomattox County, Va., on September 21, 1929, he was a son of the late Irene Cyrus Martin and William Edell Martin. He was a member of Spout Spring Baptist Church and retired from Central Virginia Training Center.

He is survived by two daughters, Lawana "Molly" White of Concord and Bridget Millner of Appomattox; two sisters, Irene "Peggy" Wright of Madison Heights and Alice Marie Johnson of Lexington, N.C.; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Willie Millner and Donald White; one granddaughter, Tammy Wright; two brothers, Harold and Eugene Martin; and sister, Lucy Patterson.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Spout Spring Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by Rev. Jonathan Watson and Stewart Watson.
