Obituary
Richard Floyd Hamilton, 66, of Cedar Tree Rd., Evergreen, died Saturday, August 28, 2010, in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Evelyn Smith Hamilton.
Born in Lynchburg, on January 31, 1944, he was a son of the late John Kent and Ruby Wooldridge Hamilton. He was an active lifetime member and Deacon of Evergreen Baptist Church. Richard retired from G.E./Ericsson, was owner and operator of Classic Country Homes, Inc., and was a member of Evergreen Ruritans.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four children and their spouses, Susan and John Harris, Ben and Claudia Hamilton, Beth and Brantley Shields, and John and Emily Hamilton; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Patsy Hamilton; and seven grandchildren, Jay and Autumn Harris, Bailey and Lainey Hamilton, Regan Shields, Clay and Wiley Hamilton all of Evergreen.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at Evergreen Baptist Church by Dr. Chris King with burial following in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Vision Fund of Evergreen Baptist Church, PO Box 100, Evergreen, VA 23939. This fund will support future projects and ministries of the church as God so leads.
