Richard Cross Bartelt, 78, of Cawthorne Street, Appomattox, died Tuesday, November 17, 2020. He was the husband of Mary Coghlan Bartelt.
Born June 2, 1942, in Washington, DC, he was a son of the late Katherine Irene Cross and John Abbott Bartelt. Richard was a member of the Monroe Masonic Lodge #301 A.F. & A.M. and Eastern Star. He retired from Aerofin Corporation as the plant supervisor. Richard was an active Airstream camper and a member of numerous Airstream camping groups. He was also a member of the Appomattox Volunteer Rescue Squad for 25 years. Richard loved his family and left a legacy of love.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law who he thought of as a son, Jeannice Bartelt Lesko and husband, Russell of Wilmington, NC, and Celeste Bartelt Minar and husband, Eric of Prince George; one brother, Bob Bartelt and fiancé, Barbara; four grandchildren, Cameron Lesko, Christian Lesko, Ryan Minar and Jordan Minar; two sisters-in-law, Becky Bartelt, and Ardith Bartelt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Bartelt and Roger Bartelt; and sister-in-law, Sally Bartelt.
A private memorial service will be held.
