Obituary

Reuben Donald Almond, 74, of Old Grist Mill Rd., Appomattox, died Tuesday, March 17, 2010, in Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Helen Bryant Almond.

Born in Appomattox County, February 27, 1936, he was a son of the late Willie Wilson and Edith Harris Almond. Reuben was retired owner and operator of Reuben Almond Sawmill and Transco Pipeline. He attended Vera Worship Center.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Terry Almond and Vanessa Haywood and David Almond and wife, Cindy all of Vera; a brother, James Almond of Lynchburg; a sister, Ellen Smith and husband, Charles of Vera; five grandchildren, Kelly Mays and husband, Joshua, Reuben Glenn Almond and wife, Tara, Anthony Almond, Coty Almond, and Corey Almond; three step-grandchildren, Laura Lee and Amanda Haywood, and Justice Wood; three great grandchildren, Zachary Smith, Lacey Mays, and Leah Almond and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Iris Cyrus.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 20, 2010 in Vera Worship Center by the Rev. James Hughes and Rev. James Bryant, Jr. with burial in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Following the service there will be a reception in the Vera Worship Center.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today, Friday, March 19, 2010, from 7-8:30 pm.
