Rustburg: Reginald Edward Tweedy, Sr. 96, died Wednesday, August 23, 2006 in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Marjorie Harrell Tweedy.
Born in Campbell County, June 22, 1910, he was a son of the late Emmett Price and Evie Evans Tweedy. Mr. Tweedy was a lifelong member of New Chapel Baptist Church and retired from the Department of Agriculture as a State Supervisor of Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Service. He was a veteran of the US Army serving his country during WWII.
In addition to his wife of 64 years he is survived by two sons, Reginald Edward Tweedy, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Greensboro, NC and Harrell Emmett Tweedy and his wife, Marian of Acworth, GA; five grandsons, Phillip, Jonathan, Eamonn, Robert, and Michael; and two sisters, Maryon Wright of Lynchburg and Ethel Maurer of Littlefield, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, August 26, 2006 in New Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Terry Clark with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 am Saturday prior to the service.
