Rebecca Moore "Becky" Smith, 73 of Lynchburg, Va., passed away on February 16, 2016. She was affectionately known as "Mrs. Bob". She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert (Bob) Smith.
Born in Appomattox County, Va., on October 13, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Nora Cuneo and Theodore R. Moore. Becky was the retired business owner of Bob's Market in Amherst, a lifetime member of the Chase City Rescue Squad, and a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Appomattox. After retiring, she became a devoted caregiver to numerous handicapped and disabled individuals and a nursing home volunteer. Becky loved family, music, dancing, gardening, and helping others and animals. She especially enjoyed big family get-togethers and Christmas.
She was the loving mother to five children, Bobby Smith (Cindy), Dixie Reynolds (Ronnie), Janet Jack (Tom), Gail Clark (Bill), and Sandra Santos (Al). She was affectionately known as Nanny and Nanny #2 to Jennifer and Evan Medas, Tommy Jack (Cait), Jeremy and Cameron Clark (Cathy), Summer, McKayla, and Aiden Hensley (Drew), Autumn Lindstrom, Alyssa Ferrell (Ryan), Cierra Wallace (John), McKenzie Smith and was a loving sister to Teddy (Donna) Moore, Alice Ramsey, Phyllis Reid, and Lou Porterfield (Dennis). She is also survived by her kitty cat, Boots and special friends, Hubert Watts, Jr. and Wanda and Teresa Dunbar.
Funeral services will be conducted 1p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Robinson Funeral Home by Pastor Carl Weiser. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016.
