Raymond Nelson Quackenbush, 71, of River Ridge Rd, Appomattox, VA, formerly of Ocean Township, NJ, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at his residence. He was the husband of Virginia Burger Quackenbush.
Born in Red Bank, NJ, February 26, 1939 he was a son of the late Nelson Schanck Quackenbush and Grace Matilda Nelson Quackenbush. Raymond and Virginia retired to Appomattox in 2004. He attended Christ Church of Appomattox, and was a member of The Appomattox County Historical Society for five years, Curator of Clover Hill Village of Appomattox, Superintendent at Chatham Gardens Apartments in Spring Lake Heights, NJ, for 18 years. He had a lifelong passion for NASCAR racing. Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle; he will be dearly missed.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two children; Raymond M. Quackenbush of Freehold, NJ, and Christina Quackenbush Blondek and husband, Christopher of Pamplin, VA; a sister, Nancy Sims Nash, and her husband Clyde, of Appomattox; two grandchildren, Eric A. Quackenbush and Amanda G. Blondek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00pm, Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Christ Church -Cornerstone Christian Academy Chapel, 169 Police Tower Road, Appomattox, VA, by Dr. Geoffrey Hubler.
