Obituary

Appomattox: Ralph H. "Be-Bo" Barlow, 99, left the Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center early Tuesday morning, October 10, 2006 and now is telling his jokes and stories all over heaven.
Born in Appomattox County, June 21, 1907, he was a son of the late William Henry Saurs Barlow and Florence Elmina Hamilton. Ralph was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. For 21 years, he worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation as a traffic counter. Ralph loved life and his family. He enjoyed hearing and telling jokes and spent many hours sharing his humor with anyone who would listen. In 1924, at the age of 17 he was paralyzed in an accident, he never allowed his handicap to get him down. He always said he had good and bad in his life but the good always outweighed the bad.
He is survived by a sister, Neola B. Smith of Appomattox; a devoted, loving and caring niece, Frances Rogers and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, in Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bruce Johnson. Burial will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park at 11:30 am.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the home of Peggy and Fred Lawson, Fairway Lane, Appomattox.
