Rachel Almond Stanley, 93, of Appomattox, died Sunday, July 28, 2024.  She was the loving wife of the late Thomas Peter Stanley.

Born in Appomattox County, August 7, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Ava Davidson Almond and Algie Welford Almond.  Rachel was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

She is survived by two children, Donna Small and Tommy Ray Stanley and wife, Mary Sue; seven grandchildren, Rusty Small and wife, Melissa, Scott Small and wife, Libbie, Cheryl Small, Whitney Atkinson and husband, Daniel, Zachary Stanley, David Spence and wife, Jennifer, Allison Grim and husband, Chris; nine great-grandchildren, Tobin, Lyssa, Matthias, Lydia, Daniel, Rylie, James, Thomas, and Ellie.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Faye Thomas and her husband, Murrell; two brothers, Ray Almond and wife, Thelma, and Reggie Almond and wife, Janie; and son-in-law, Jerry Small.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Robert E. Lee and Rev. Dr. Rusty Small officiating. Burial will follow in Old Herman Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 pm, Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Liberty Baptist Church.
