Rachel Page O'Brien, 84, of Anderson Mill Rd., Appomattox, died Friday, January 21, 2011, in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Clem Hancock O'Brien.
Born in Appomattox County, on October 21, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William Braxton Page and Lillian Gertrude Pugh Page. Mrs. O'Brien was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and retired from Amelia Garment Company.
She is survived by three sons, William Clem (Sonny) O'Brien, Calvin Edward O'Brien and wife, Sue all of Appomattox, Kenneth Ray O'Brien and wife, Dottie of Forest; a daughter, Clair Rachel Ferguson and husband, Mark of Lynchburg; two sisters, Audrey P. Mason of Staunton and Carolyn P. Baldwin of Pamplin; nine grandchildren, Lorie and husband, Will Carwile, Bradley O'Brien and wife, Autumn, Tara Nelson and husband, Troy, Benjamin Ferguson and wife, Megan, Robert Ferguson, Matthew Ferguson, John William O'Brien, Suzanne Guill and husband, David, and Richard Edward O'Brien.; twelve great-grandchildren, John Cole O'Brien, Heather, Christian, Faith, Carley , Gunnar, Evan, Summer, Taylor Savannah Star, Iyla Lynn, Edith Rachel; and a great-great-granddaughter, Holly.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Matthew, Royal, Alton and Raymond Page; a sister, Catherine Crawford; a grandson, Jason O'Brien. and a daughter-in-law, Carolyn O'Brien.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, January 24, 2011, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Ronnie Rogers with burial following in the Clem O'Brien Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011 and other times at the residence.
