Rachel Phelps Mitchell
Rachel Phelps Mitchell, 86, of Virginia Avenue, Appomattox, died Monday night, October 13, 2008, at Babcock Manor. She was the wife of the late William Garland Mitchell.
Born in Appomattox County, December 23, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Clara Lee Phelps. Mrs. Mitchell was a homemaker, a member of Liberty Baptist Church and retired employee of Appomattox Garment Co. with 30 years service.
Rachel is survived by a grandson, Timothy Woodson, and his wife, Wynee, of Goode; a son-in-law, Sammy Woodson, and his wife, Barbara, of Spout Spring; and a great-grandson, Josh Hall, and his wife Devonne, of Appomattox. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy M. Woodson, a granddaughter, Connie Frances Hall, a great-grandson, Tim Hall, four sisters, and three brothers.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, October 17, 2008, in Liberty Cemetery with the Rev. Rusty Small officiating.
