Rachel Mayberry Mann, 75, of North Creek Rd., Appomattox, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and an angel on earth who went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 30, 2008 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of William (Bill) Edward Mann, Sr.
Born in Appomattox County, May 6, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Edward Hunter and Jessie Morris Mayberry. She was a member of Spout Spring Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and a retired seamstress for Courtland Manufacturing.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Otto Smith; a son and daughter-in-law, William E., Jr. and Pam Mann all of Appomattox; three grandsons, Frank and Melissa Smith, Billy and Kelly Mann and Jason Mann; six great grandchildren, Justin, Blake, Trey and Peyton Smith, Clay Mann, and Paisley Mann; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Emma and Bob Fields, and Bill and Gracie Mayberry all of Appomattox and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack, Charlie, Ralph, and Carroll Mayberry and two sisters, Elsie Franklin and Frances Fulcher.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm, Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Spout Spring Baptist Church by the Rev. Victor Nas and the Rev. George Kreidel with burial following in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today at Spout Spring Baptist Church from 7-8:30 pm and at other times at the residence of Pam and William Mann, Jr.
