Roy Carlton "R.C." Carter, Jr., 59, of Morning Star Road, died Monday, November 6, 2017, at UVA Medical Center. He was the husband of Tina Doss Carter for 31 years.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., on October 24, 1958, he was the son of the late Roy Carlton Carter, Sr. and Margaret Dodson Carter Hicks.

R.C. opened Carter's Garage in 1990 and specialized in transmission and drivetrain repair. He was an avid fisherman; fishing in Region 2 Tournaments. He was a member of B. A. S. S. and the Appomattox Bass Masters.

In addition to his wife, Tina, he is survived by a son, Joseph "Joey" Randall Carter of Appomattox; a sister, Lynn C. Moore of Appomattox; two brothers, James Lee Carter and his special friend, Rhonda of Lynchburg and Col. Allan Wayne Carter and wife, Debbie of Waynesboro; mother-in-law, Ida Virginia Doss of Appomattox; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rebecca and David Stratton, Thomas and Priscilla Doss, and Christie and Greg Schmitt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Kenneth T. Doss.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Walker's Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 134 Hollywood Rd., Pamplin, officiated by the Rev. Donovan Campbell. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the residence.
