Phillip Lewis (Feetie) Hargis, Sr., 55, of Promise Land Rd., Appomattox, died Monday, July 14, 2008, in Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born in Lynchburg, December 31, 1952, he was a son of Phyllis Mays Hargis of Lynchburg and the late John Nelson Hargis. He served in the Marine Corps Reserves.
In addition to his mother he is survived by a son, Phillip L. Hargis, Jr. and his fiancée, Shannon Silby of Lynchburg; two sisters and their spouses, Dianne H. and Sherrill Wright of Lynchburg and Wanda H. and Dave Bradley of Forest; a brother and his spouse, Steve and Moira Hargis of Bedford; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Macee Hargis; nieces and nephews including, Lisa, Susan, and Butch; numerous cousins one of whom was like a brother, John Thomas Hargis and a close friend, neighbor, and caregiver, Laura Bouton, whom the family would like to extend their gratitude for the love and care shown to Fettie.
A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox. The family will receive following the service until 8:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, PO Box 1131, Alexandria, VA 22303.
