Raymond Harold "Pete" McFadden, 75, of Oakville Rd., Gladstone, passed away Thursday morning September 27, 2012. He was the husband of Gladys Ann Adcock McFadden. Pete was born August 28, 1937 in Nelson County, a son of the late Florence Woody and John James McFadden. Pete was a member of Gladstone Memorial Baptist Church and former Sunday school teacher at Maple Grove Baptist Church, he had retired as a clerk with CSX Railroad. Pete served his community as a member of Gladstone Volunteer Rescue Squad and as a board member of the Gladstone Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Black Rock Hunt Club, Church Hill Hunt Club and Greenway Hunt Club where he served as president for 40 years, an instructor with the Virginia Trappers Association, and was a member of the National Trappers Association. Pete was a member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge # 73 A.F. and A.M.In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Debra McFadden Hughes and Dale, of Appomattox, Raymond H. "Buddy" McFadden, Jr. and Kris, of Gladstone, Vivian McFadden Oxner and Larry, of Appomattox, Johnny F. McFadden and Lisi, of Appomattox; four brothers, C. Russell McFadden and Pauline, of Gladstone, James R. McFadden and Brenda, of Schuyler, Edward M. McFadden and Ellie, of Lynchburg, H. E. "Billy" McFadden and Hazel, of Gladstone; three sisters, Martha Lee Meador and Len, Barbara Ann Bryant and William, all of Madison Heights, Daphine Gayle Davis of Amherst; five grandchildren, Kimberly Martin and Robby, Megan Jennings and Kevin, Daniel Oxner and fiancée Charity Wells, Courtney McFadden, McKenzie Oxner, and a special great-grandson, R.J. Martin; special friends, Gray and Kathy Moss and family and Jack Vaughan.A funeral service will be held 2:30 PM, Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Robinson Funeral Home with Dr. James Fetty officiating. Burial will follow in the McFadden Family Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 until 8:30 pm, Saturday night, September 29, 2012 and other times at the residence.
