Obituary

Percy Everett Kidd, 58, of Mt. Cut Road, Appomattox went home to his Lord and Savior on April 27, 2010, surrounded by his family. He left this world after a courageous three year battle with leukemia to join his wonderful big brother Charles, his beautiful little sister, Kitty, and his father Charlie.

Born in Lynchburg, July 19, 1951, he was a son of Mary Scruggs Kidd and the late Charles Everett Kidd, Sr. He was a graduate of Buckingham High School and a member of Antioch-Union Baptist Church. On January 21, 1971, he married the love of his life, Linda Harvey and they raised three sons. Percy, Linda, and their three sons owned several successful businesses, Perlins and Kidd's Auto Design and Restoration. Percy loved God, restoring classic cars, and mustangs. He considered his greatest accomplishment to be his godly sons, their wives, and especially his grandchildren. His love and commitment to his family and friends knew no bounds.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Linda Harvey Kidd; his beloved mother, Mary Scruggs Kidd; three sons and daughters-in-law, Darin and Cheryl Kidd, Brad and Crystal Kidd, Brandon and Destiny Kidd; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Charles (Smitty) Smith and Jenny Lou and Larry Ledford; his greatest gift his eleven grandchildren, Taylor, Tyler, Wyatt, Riley, Kinley, Bradley, Dylan, Hayley, Cayden, Chloe, and Lindsey Kidd; a sister-in-law, Brenda P. Kidd and a brother-in-law, Billy Fette.

A celebration of his life will be held in Antioch-Union Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00 am, Friday, April 30, 2010, by the Rev. Jennings Duncan, III.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today (Thursday) from 7-8:30 pm and at other times at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Crystal Kidd.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in memory of Percy to Liberty Christian Academy, 100 Mountain View Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24502-2271, Attention: Wendy Story, for a scholarship for his grandchildren.
