Peggy Jean "PJ" Powell, 77, of Evergreen Avenue, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018. She was the wife of the late Alton Tyrone Powell.

Born in Charlottesville, March 11, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Nettie Strickland and James Oscar Hughes.

She is survived by four daughters, Sandra Potter and husband, Michael of Cocoa, FL, Veronica Patterson of Roanoke, Cynthia Driver of Forest and Angela Shorter of Concord; one sister, Betty Snow and husband, Malcolm of Afton; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
