Peggy Garrette Mann
Peggy Dawn Garrette Mann, 74, of Old Grist Mill Road, entered into the joy of the Lord early Thursday morning August 2, 2012 at her residence. She was a loving and devoted wife to Tony Edward Mann for 45 years.
Peggy was born at home in Pamplin, VA on June 9, 1938, a daughter of the late Una Mae Williams and Divelo Garrette.
She was a member of Elon Baptist Church and retired from the Virginia State Police after 25 years to become a dedicated homemaker to rear her son and later to love and tend to grandchildren.
Peggy was a loving spirit who loved life and people and people responded to her in like manner. She cherished her many friends from childhood, the State Police, the community as well as her family.
In addition to her husband, Peggy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Shane and Renee Nicole Wilson Mann of Appomattox; 3 grandchildren, Logan Shane Mann, Haley Danielle Mann and Emma Dawn Mann; numerous cousins, 2 aunts and one uncle whom she considered her close family.
Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday August 5, 2012 in Pamplin Community Cemetery officiated by the Rev. David Sexton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 7-8:30 PM .
Thanks and blessings to family, friends, neighbors and the many church families for all your prayers, visits, calls, cards and support for Peggy and her family. Also to Centra Hospice Staff and medical staff at both LGH and VBH for their care at home and during her hospital stays. Thanks and blessings to all the "Caring from the Heart" ladies for their loving and gentle care around the clock when Peggy was at home.
