Appomattox: Pearl Burnett Mitchell, 88, graduated to Glory on Sunday, August 27, 2006. She was the wife of the late Charles Vernell Mitchell.
Born in Greene County, VA, March 12, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Eldridge Franklin and Margaret Hughey Burnett.
Pearl was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church and was involved in many activities within the church family. She was a former President of the WMU, where she served as a member for more than 50 years.
She is survived by three children, Theodore L. (Teddy) and wife, Roberta H. Mitchell of Appomattox, Clyde F. (Freddy) and wife, Betsy R. Mitchell of Fenwick Island, Del., and Betty F. Mitchell of Richmond; seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Lettie Harlow, Ora Burnett, Aubrey Burnett, Susie Marshall, Rev. Omer Burnett, Ruth Reynolds, Mirla Jennings, Hallie Harlow, Grace Ferguson and Hazel Burnett.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Wednesday, August 30, 2006, from 7-8:30 pm and at other times at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, August 31, 2006, in Liberty Baptist Church by the Rev. Daniel Dockery with burial following in Liberty Cemetery.
