Obituary
Payton Glenn Cumbie, Sr., 82, of Appomattox, went to be with his heavenly father on Thursday, February 23, 2017.
He was a son of the late Perry Major and Effie Myrtle Cumbie. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Cumbie Page; one brother Perry Major "Buster" Cumbie; and three sisters, Violet Edmonds, Bertis Clark and Avis Wooldridge.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Cumbie; a son, Glenn Cumbie, Jr., and wife, Dale; a daughter, Tammy Cumbie; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2 pm, Monday, February 27, 2017 at Red Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Barker officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Red Oak Baptist Church.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Centra Hospice of Farmville for their love and care of Payton and his family.
