Paul Herndon Bugg, 83, of Peach Street, Appomattox, died Thursday afternoon May 23, 2013 at Virginia Baptist Hospital Centra Specialty Hospital. He was the husband of the late Faye Kestner Bugg.

Paul was born in Gladstone, VA on August 6, 1929 a son of the late Alice Smoot Bugg and Ivanhoe Bugg. He was a member Liberty Baptist Church and the United Transportation Union. He retired from CSX Railroad as a Yard Master, was the owner/operator of Bugg Motor Company and President of Bugg Family Properties.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Hugh Herndon Bugg and Linda Bugg of Lynchburg; a daughter and son-in-law Nadine Bugg Blakely and John E. Blakely of Forest; four devoted grandchildren, Stuart, Spencer, and Savannah Blakely of Forest and Spencer Studler of Lynchburg; three step-grandchildren, Blake, Danny and Justin Woodard of Lynchburg; devoted cousins who were like his brother and sister, Larry Smoot and his wife, Patsy of Lynchburg and Mildred Smoot Johnson of Clifton Forge; devoted sisters-in-law, Clarine Mays, Evelyn Chernault and Frances Guill of Appomattox.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucy Smoot Tyree.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Jeff Worley and the Rev. Dr. Rusty Small. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, Saturday, May 25, 2013, and other times at the homes of Nadine and John of Forest and Hugh and Linda of Lynchburg.
