Obituary

Patricia (Patsy) Wilcox Martin, 66, of Appomattox, Virginia went home to meet her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born August 25, 1943, and departed this life Friday, February 12, 2010. She was the daughter of John Allen and Dolly Williams Tweedy; and paternal father, Thurman Lee Wilcox, Sr. all of Appomattox.
She was a lifetime resident of Appomattox, Virginia where she attended Bible Baptist Church. She relished in her family, devoting her life to them and it is evident by the love they showed to her. She loved her Lord, church family and friends. She was a church organist for 25 years and loved singing and praising her Lord. No one who knew Patsy ever doubted her dedication to Jesus and her family. She was retired from the Appomattox County School System.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, William Hunter Martin; son William A. (Tony) Martin and his wife Lisa; daughter Tammy M. Blair; brother, Thurman L. (Buddy) Wilcox, Jr. and wife Nancy; brother Raymond Tweedy and wife Virginia all of Appomattox, Virginia; sister Debbie Reeves and husband Anthony of Red House, Virginia. She has one grandson, Austin Martin Blair, who she loved and adored deeply; as well as many special nieces, nephews and special friends who will miss her laugh and her love of life.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Essie Williams Martin and Trigg Williams of Appomattox.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Bible Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert E. Lee, Rev. Anthony Reeves and Rev. Paul Kvasnicka, with burial to follow at Liberty Cemetery.
The family would like to thank a special friend, Candace Younger, who was very special to Patsy and the family. Thanks also to Centra Health Hospice of the Hills, our angel Rose Ingle, and all the nurses who took such loving care of Patsy.
The Family will receive friends from 3-5 pm Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Bible Baptist Church, and other times at the family home.
