Obituary

Patrice Anding Duncan, 56, of Appomattox, Va., passed away on October 29, 2015. Patrice was a proud cancer survivor, having triumphed over medulloblastoma brain cancer thirty plus years ago.

She was a native Texan, born September 26, 1959, in Houston, Texas and never missed an opportunity to inform anyone she met that Virginia was certainly no Texas!

Patrice was an accomplished chef with an Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts. She loved animals of all types and proudly volunteered at the Houston Zoo for over 15 years. An accomplished singer, she was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church choir for many years, in Houston. She loved art projects that involved painting and took much pride in creating personalized gifts for family and friends.

She is survived by her mother, Islea Riggs Duncan of Appomattox, Va.; her father, William Christopher Duncan and his wife, Evalyn of Lakeland, Fla.; a sister, Katharine Elizabeth (Kae) Kessler of Appomattox, Va.; a brother, Brian Douglas Duncan of San Diego, Calif.; a nephew, Bradley Christopher Winter of Northumberland, Pa.; a niece, Kaelyn Michelle Kessler of Richmond, Va., and two wonderful friends, Margaretta (Pixie) and Glenn Hannon.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher Riggs Duncan in 2012.

A celebration mass of Patrice's life will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church at noon. A reception will follow.
