Otis Terrell Candler, 86, of Marshall Mill Road, Gladys, died Thursday, July 8, 2010, in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Mildred Ferguson Candler. Born in Campbell Co., November 22, 1923, he was a son of the late Berta Torrence and John Terrell Candler. Otis was a member and deacon of New Chapel Baptist Church, a member of the Woodmen of the World Lodge #405, and was retired after 30 years of service from Taylor Brothers, Inc.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Terrell Wayne Candler, of Gladys; two sisters, Dola Candler Ring, of Goode, Elizabeth Candler Rowland, and her husband Paul, of Gladys; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Morgan Candler, and two nieces, Chiquita Lynn Candler, and Donna Ring Smith.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday July 11, 2010, in New Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Timothy Dooley, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral home from 6:00 PM until 7:30PM today (Saturday), and other times at the residence.
